Birkirkara FC Open Investigation Regarding "Racial Abuse" Towards Local Paul Mbong In Recent Game 😠
Drama At The End ⚽️
Yesterday, towards the end of Birkirkara FC's 2-1 win against Senglea Athletic, Paul Mbong was shoved to the ground following a heated exchange with an opposing player - Paul also claimed that racial slurs were used against him during this event.
So far, Senglea have denied these allegations, however Birkirkara FC have other plans...
Birkirkara Is Not Happy 😒
These incidents have become far too common, especially during sports. Thankfully, Birkirkara FC seem to recognise this and have immediately asked the MFA to open an investigation over player Paul Mbong’s alleged racial abuse.
They also made a statement, saying:
"The club would like to first & foremost condemn all forms of racism & would like to place on record our total support for Paul Mbong”
With regards to the incident itself, it occurred after Mbong tackled Senglean player Andre Scicluna from behind - both players were booked after their confrontation, and shown a red card and sent off the pitch.
Mbong took to Facebook to explain his side of the story.

A Marathon Not A Sprint 🏃♂️
Racism is sadly still a persistent issue in 2020, a year which has had a particularly strong racial theme following the long saga that was the George Floyd protests.
Like it or not, this problem is a marathon, one that we have to keep fighting on a day-to-day basis that will not simply disappear overnight. The least we can do is fight for our brothers & sisters on a local level! ✅
