8 Blockbuster Series Expected This 2021 - Fan Favourites Returning! 🍿

Netflix Addiction Incoming ⏳

While we don't seem to be out of the woods yet with regards to Covid-19 measures, there may be a bright side to all the staying indoors we'll be doing - new shows on Netflix!

The following list is jam-packed with announcements for fan favourite shows that are returning to the platform - here's hoping they all release this year...

#1 - Lupin - Season 2

French thriller Lupin has been a huge hit since its first five episodes landed on Netflix at the beginning of January. In fact, Netflix has confirmed that it's been one of their biggest international hits to date - reaching number one in Netflix’s Top 10 in more than 10 countries.

After only half of season 1 was released, fans are eagerly waiting for more episodes of the show. Now, Netflix has confirmed that the rest of season 1 will be released in Summer 2021.

There are also rumours that the show has been confirmed for a second season. Which could hit screens late 2021, according to the show’s creator George Kay, who said that "We’re actively story-lining with real confidence that [a second season] is gonna happen."

#2 - Brooklyn Nine Nine - Season 8

The official announcement tweet made by the Brooklyn Nine Nine twitter account reads:

" *Capt. Holt voice* We're in a state of total euphoria. #Brooklyn99 returns in 2021 on @NBC, streaming on @PeacockTV."

Season 8 will surely be an interesting one to watch, as the show will tackle the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as the pandemic. According to the show's creator - "It's a very complicated subject, but I think the police have to be portrayed more realistically"

#3 - Strangers Things - Season 4

Unfortunately, Stranger Things season 4 still doesn't have an official release date, and filming appears not to have finished just yet either.

Production of the new season started back in March of 2020, but the year had various breaks and issues due to covid, which meant that filming was still going on as late as October - and could even be ongoing right now.

This means we could still see season 4 this year, but the longer we go without an official announcement, the more likely it is that it'll be in the second half not the first.

#4 - You - Season 3

Last year, on January 14th, Netflix ordered another season for You - which confirmed its renewal to fans. Unfortunately, the production hit a snag due to the pandemic, after which it resumed filming a whole year later on January 18th, 2021.

Since filming is already underway, we can expect the new season to drop relatively soon. In all probability, we expect the new season to come fall of 2021.

#5 - Sex Education - Season 3

After season 1 was watched 40 million times in its first month on Netflix, there's no surprise that a 3rd season is on its way. Production for Sex Education season 3 started in April, but was delayed 5 months to September due to, you guessed it, coronavirus.

While there's no official release date yet, we can make a very calculated guess on when it will be released....

Season 2 was announced on Feb 1st, 2019, and the season premiered on Jan 17th, 2020.

Season 3 was also announced February 2020 - (so if we take the 5-month filming setback into account) we could be looking at Sex Education season 3 dropping in June 2021.

#6 - Lucifer - Season 5 Part B

Currently, the showrunners have confirmed that filming for season 6 has started, and also that season 5 part 2 has concluded filming and is on the way shortly.

The news comes following debates last December, which saw many fans going back and forth online wondering whether or not part B would arrive on Christmas day.

Our best guess is that our horned (and horny) friend Lucifer will be returning to Netflix in the first half of 2021, with the following season 6 possibly being shipped in late 2021 - although 2022 seems more likely.

#7 - Cobra Kai - Season 4

As viewers of the first three seasons know, this show has it all — '80s nostalgia, heart-stopping drama, light-hearted humor, and many epic karate battle scenes - and we're sure that season 4 will bring even more action!

According to what co-creator and writer Jon Hurwitz, it looks like the cast & crew are aiming to begin shooting for season 4 in early 2021. Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg also confirmed this timeline when she tweeted in early January that everyone was travelling to Atlanta to begin production. Fingers crossed that we get a release date soon!

Exciting Year Ahead? 🤔

Yes sir! At least on the entertainment side of things...Keep in mind though , just like 2020, we are bound to face some kind of production complications.

Still, it does seem like things are looking brighter, and we'll definitely be getting more content than last year...after all, Netflix are also releasing a new film every week this year to boot!
