7 Beautiful Southern Spots That You MUST Visit Before The End Of Summer
Most people talk about the best beach spots in the north while the spots in the south take a back seat. But the south offers beautiful and stunning beaches, cliffsides, and landscapes to spend the day exploring, but Mr. FreeHour, where do I go? Well, it's quite simple really, thanks to the power of the internet, we can show you some excellent southern spots to get your feet wet, and to ensure that you have an amazing day out.
Along Żonqor Point is a beautiful rocky beach that offers a fun day out swimming while also tanning in the Summer sun. Good for snorkelling, the beach is filled with marine life and quiet enough to enjoy a peaceful day at the beach.
Famous for it's caves, Wied iż-Żurrieq is protected by cliffside and an always watching watchtower. Boats can take you to the Blue Grotto for a mesmerising 30-ish minute ride (if you don't get seasick that is).
Also close to Blue Grotto, this small beach forms a beautiful and clear-watered natural swimming pool, attracting a lot of people. A little hard to get to and maybe a bit small, Għar Lapsi is an excellent place to go and relax.
Xgħajra's rocky beach is a great way at wasting a day reading a book, playing cards with friends, and generally relaxing the day away. While it may not be everyone and the waves can get pretty rough on some days, Xgħajra is definitely worth a visit.
St. Peter's Pool
One of the most beautiful natural pools in Malta, St. Peter's Pool is a perfect and quick getaway from all of life's problems (this includes re-sits, work, and any form of teen melodrama). Crystal clear water and usually not too packed, Peter may just be the patron saint of swimming.
Protected by the Fort and its massive canon (ladies 😉), Rinella Bay is a beautiful sandy beach that is fun for the whole family. Not too deep into the South making it easier to get to than other places, Rinella is a beautiful change of scenery with a beautiful view of Valletta.
Xrobb l-Għagin & Munxar Path
Xrobb l-Għagin is an incredible hiking spot as you walk along Munxar Path, looking out at the horizon. If you are looking for a weekend away, spending a couple of days at the Xrobb l-Għagin hostel is an awesome getaway.
