10 Million Euro MCAST Project Featuring "2-Storey Library & Games Room" Is Almost Done 👀 😍

Upgrade time 🚀

Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the construction of the MCAST Resource Centre (MRC) is now in its final phase. It's quite a sizeable project too, with a footprint of approximately 2,300 square meters, spread over 4 floors

It'll house many facilities, including the MCAST Centre for Research & Innovation, the Learning Support Unit, the Learning Resource Centre & the aforementioned 2-story Library.

Why €10 Million Though? 💰

Well, let's just say there's a lot to this new space...

Firstly the design includes the latest in energy-saving technology and features measures to lower maintenance and operational costs. Also, a government statement read, "the emphasis on surrounding areas will be on green spaces and landscaping."

When it comes to the nitty-gritty, there'll be various services within the MRC for students, including; 2 exhibition spaces, 1 auditorium, 14 offices for directors & managers, 2 boardrooms, 16 lecture rooms and tutorial rooms, 1 cafeteria, a library on 2 floors, and also a working area, a study area, outside seating, a project room and games room.

The MRC Mission Statement 🎓

Now, while it's great that MCAST is developing its physical college environment, that isn't what this is about. This is more to do with investing in students and educators, by equipping them with the latest in tech-fuelled modern learning spaces.

Minister Owen Bonnici echoed this sentiment, saying, "We want to create a space for educators & students to develop creative & innovative work, a space that facilitates communication & collaboration beyond the classroom."

Lastly, here's the MRC mission statement straight from the founder himself 👇
